My approach is to let other people think of my labels for me. It's not really any of my business.
I think the most you can say about human potential, is that approaching something greater than yourself with an attitude of service, gives you an opportunity to realize something about that greater thing.
I think humility will go a long way on the spiritual path. I wouldn't get too hung up on what your mind or someone else's mind is abstractly capable of. It will all work out. Just be constant in your practice.
