From the ancient Yajur Veda, Kapura Gauram is a beautiful sloka in praise of Lord Siva. In this chanting tutorial, Narada Williams teaches the recitation of the sloka in the traditional Vedic meter and in a more melodic style.
कर्पूरगौरं करुणावतारम्
संसारसारं भुजगेन्द्रहारम् |
सदा वसन हृदयारववन्
भवं भवानीसहहतं नमामम ||
Karpūragauraṁ karuṇāvatāram |
Saṁsārasāraṁ bhujagendra hāram ||
Sadā vasantaṁ hṛdayāravinde |
Bhavaṁ bhavāni sahitaṁ namāmi ||
Pure as camphor, avatar of compassion
Essence of this world, wearing the Lord of Serpents as a garland
Eternally residing in the heart’s lotus
O Shiva, one with Shakti, God and Goddess, I bow to You.
